The New Home Business Model

Blogging, a form of online journalism, has become one of the most common activities for internet users in the 21st century. In fact, more people publish or read a blog each day than read a newspaper. It's only natural that there would be an increase in the number of people using blogging to make an income. With companies like Blogger and BlogToolKit, almost anyone can publish their own blog in minutes and start making money online.

But how does a blogger go from making 10 or 20 cents a month in ad clicks to over 6 figures a year? Is there something special that millionaire bloggers have that most people do not?

Simply put, the answer is yes. Profitable Bloggers have something that most other people do not. In order for a blogger to make any money at all they need:

1. to get noticed.
2. provide something interesting to read
3. provide an incentive for the reader to come back

When looked at it from this point of view, a successful blog has the same qualities as a successful website. In fact, the only difference is that a website usually has a product that they are trying to sell, whereas a blog simply provides something interesting to read.

Let's take a look at each of the requirements for a successful blog.

Standing out among millions:
Getting a blog noticed is not all that difficult. There are hundreds of ways to spread the word about your blog and attract readers, the simplest of which is telling friends and families about it.

Think back to a recent email that a friend or family member sent you that had a funny story or link to a popular short video. The person that sent it to you found it interesting enough to forward it to you. Chances are that you found it interesting and shared it with your friends as well. We all get emails like this and we all share them. It's called viral marketing and if you can master it, you will be rich!

The first step is to share your blog. Send an email to all of your friends and family with a link to your blog imbedded in the email. Ask them to check it out, add it to their favorite's folder or homepage, and share it with their friends and family.

Don't bore your readers:
Much like the uncle or grandfather that goes on and on about something only they are interested in, no one else wants to read you going on and on about irrelevant things in your life. No one wants to hear what you ate for breakfast or that your imbedded toenail infection is starting to clear up. Write about something specific and something interesting.

There are literally millions of topics that you can choose from. The more unique and on-topic your blog is, the more popular it will become. Let's look at a blog on pets as an example. You can easily start a blog on your favorite type of pet. Anyone could do it and it's easy to include links or news stories about pets that would attract readers. But, ask yourself this; is anyone passionate about pets? More often than not, a reader will be passionate and interested about a specific topic and if your blog is generic you will never make a dime. Now, what if the same blog was about German Shepherd dogs. It's much more targeted and interesting to the reader that likes that breed of dog. The more interested that your reader is, the better chance you have that they will come back and share your blog with others.

Keep them hanging:
Attracting readers and providing something interesting to read is all well and good. But, the big bucks will not happen unless you get your readers to come back again and again. Writing a cliffhanger or some subtle foreshadowing will ensure that your readers bookmark your blog and come back. If you make sure that you update your blog daily and give an incentive for the reader to come back you cannot fail. As your repeat readers increase, so does the likelihood that they will click on an ad, thus increasing your profits.

A Powerful Home Business Marketing Tool

One of the best home business marketing tool is a business blog. What makes a business blog one of the top notch marketing idea for a home business is that its easy to create, inexpensive to build and its so casual and conversational that the owner can draw consumers in a non threatening way.
Trust is the key to successful home business marketing and blogs build trust. The approach is non confrontational, subtle and encourages two way conversations. Trust comes in the openness of the blog. Its a fact that people buy people, they don't buy products. Consumers have to trust and like the entrepreneur or they don't buy the product. Blogs build this relationship that brings in the sales.
So, what makes a blog one of the best marketing weapon is that it drives a lot more traffic to the business Web site, it generates more business sales and it creates a secondary income stream and offers personable, efficient and timely customer service.
To create a great blog and use it successful as a marketing tool for the home business, the owner must become a talented blogger. There are three things she or he must accomplish to achieve great blogging status. The first is a distinct blog voice. A blog should have the tone of a forum, a place where the ideas of the blogger and others can flourish and where topics totally unrelated (or seemingly unrelated) can be discussed and debated without disparagement of others opinions. It doesn't take an Ernest Hemingway to write a great blog. It just takes an interest in and devotion to the subject matter.
The content must be relevant to the audience, however, so while it doesn't have to be exactly on the topic, it does need to have some relevance. In other words, a landscaper might have a blog that discusses various lawn care ideas and the forum postings might segue over to neighborhood eyesores and what to do about them and that's okay. Because the blogger may add some suggestions which will present him or her as an expert on how to create a beautiful front yard from a garbage heap. What wouldn't be very useful is to let the discussion get around to the price of auto insurance. What help is that going to be to ideas about marketing the home landscape business.
Regular blog updates are great marketing ideas and the key to bringing people back often to the home business site. To not update regularly would be to invite people to stay away. After all, who wants to read yesterdays news especially if they already read it yesterday.

Why Is There A Need To Know More People Beyond Your Comfort Social Circle

I like to stick around with my comfort social circle of friends. This is because we have common views on most things and usually we shared a common experience. Maybe we have studied together in the same school. Maybe we have worked together in the same office before. Maybe we have grown up together in the neighborhood. Maybe we are in the same hobby club. Whatever the reasons, I rarely venture out of my comfort social circle to see what are out there in this world.

After reading the rich dad series, I gather that it is important to know more people beyond my comfort social circle especially people who are more successful than me. By mingling and mixing with them, I will be influenced by them to raise my standard so that I can be as successful as them. As it really make sense to me, I decided to move beyond my comfort social circle of friends by knowing more people. Below are a few examples on the approach that I have used to know more friends.

One way is to get to know more people in seminars or courses. I will bring my name cards to give away or exchange. During break times, I will approach people to say hello. To start a conversation, I will ask them how do they feel about the seminar. If they briefly answered that the seminar is ok or fine, I will share my views about the seminar instead so that I can keep the conversation going. I will give my name card and request for their name cards in exchange. If they do not have a name card, I will give them a piece of paper so that they can give me their contacts. And I will follow up and communicate with them after the event using email, phones or whatever. In this way, I hope that I can strike a rapport and make new friends.

Another way is to get to know more people online. I will invite people to be my friends in online social networking website such as myspace.com, multiply.com, friendster.com and so on. And I will follow up and communicate with them online if they accepted my invitation. As result, I can make new friends.

I can also try to know more people in social gatherings such as wedding dinners, birthday parties and so on. I will be proactive and try to start a conversation with people. I will exchange name card or contacts where appropriate so as that I can follow up with them. The topics vary depending on the nature of social gatherings. For wedding dinner, the common topic will be on the bride or the groom. For examples, how are you related to the couple? How did you get to know the groom or the bride? Similarly for birthday party, the common topic will be on the birthday person. For examples, how are you related to the birthday person? How did you get to know the birthday person? By this approach, I widen my circle of friends.

Alternatively, I can get to know more people at religious gatherings. By discussing about our common religious beliefs, I can easily form friendship with people. I can take part in religious activities and share my views during discussion on certain topics in the religious teaching. In addition, I can volunteer to help out in religious activities.

Whatever approaches I use, my main objective is to get to know more people so that we can learn from each other. Whenever I chat with people that are beyond my current comfort circle of friends, I always get to learn more things because the topics that we talked about are different. Also, their views are likely to be very different from my comfort social circle of friends. This is because we come from very different backgrounds. This is especially true for online friends living in different countries with different cultures. We can learn even more things from each other due to our cultural differences.

During conversation, I will always keep an open mind and listen. If what I have heard is useful for me to progress further in my quest for financial freedom, I will try to adopt and practice it. If what I have heard is not useful for my quest for financial freedom, I will store them as my knowledge so that I can share with other people in future where appropriate. Either way, I have nothing much to loss for trying to get to know more people. The worst thing that can happen to me is that people reject my friendship. But if I do not try, I definitely will not have the opportunity to find new friends.

Why Working So Hard Does Not Work?

In life, we live and work within the premise that hard work is the ultimate means of achieving success in life. People believe that when they work hard, they know that they will reap better results, more positive upshots, and a better, successful life.
However, in today's hustle and bustle of everyday living, many health experts are advising most people who are "workaholics" or those who work so hard not to burn their selves out. They contend that working hard is not really an ideal stepping-stone to success. In fact, studies show that working hard is not really an effective way in gaining the kind of achievement you want to obtain.
In reality, there are people who do not work that much but gain the best results. It's like reaping results without even ripping your heart and mind out. These people seemed to have that power that turns everything into gold.
On the other hand, there are people who continue to burn their selves out and yet they do not get the gratification and the achievement they wish to obtain.
So, the question now lies on why is working hard does not work when it comes to accomplishing something worthy of your time and effort?
The answer lies on the fact that working hard is not the key to success. In fact, many people contend that the old adage, "Work hard, play hard," must have been coined by a man who has the brawn and the body to endure stress and everything.
What matters most is the condition and the gratification that a person gets whenever he or she works. Working hard alone does not contribute to the success of an individual. To be successful, you need something more. It would be better to rephrase the once strict saying into, Have fun, work better, and play better!"
Enjoying what you do is the ultimate key to success. You have to love the work that you do in order to achieve the gratification and the happiness that you truly deserve.
Consequently, working hard will not give you that kind of gratification because you will always feel that you have to stretch your capacity in order to accommodate more work and, thus, making you feel you are nearing success.
So, for people who want to know more on the reasons why working so hard will simply not produce better results, here is a list of some basis why working hard is not good and ineffective.

1. The human body has a specific "optimum range" of working capacity
It is obvious that most people have a specific range of pressure that they can bear and accept, or even feel at ease with.
Hence, there are times wherein the person feels discontented whenever they get workload that is below the scale of their capacity to tolerate pressure. But, there are also instances wherein they burn out in the event that they have so many tasks that the pressure exceeds the normal capacity that they can tolerate.
So, if you work so hard, you will only end up bad-tempered and irritable simply because what you do is already beyond your capacity to manage work. What happens next is that you may even end up doing things the wrong way because your mind and body can no longer take the pressure.

2. Working so hard causes fatigue and stress
Call it fatigue, listlessness, tiredness, lethargy, or just plain feeling pooped, 7 million Americans visit their doctors each year seeking an answer for why they are dragging.
The reason for this is that they are already stressed-out. Most health experts say that stress is the number one cause of fatigue. Stress causes your body to go into fight-or-flight mode. When that occurs, you produce excess adrenaline and other hormones that make your heart beat faster and energize your body. As soon as that bursts is over, however, you slump into fatigue.
Being constantly stressed-out is like living with one foot on the break and the other on the accelerator, you are eventually going to strip your gears. Stress also triggers other physical responses that compound fatigue, including muscle tension.

3. The rich do not work for money, they have money work for them.
The problem with most people who are financially restrained is that they are motivated by fear and greed. They are afraid of running out of money to meet one's needs, and greed or desire to buy better things or enjoy life more. That is why they work day in and day out to earn more money only to meet their needs and wants.
On the other hand, the "rich" work, even for free sometimes, but aim to master how to handle and deal with money and not have money drive them crazy. They are more on the lookout for creative and fun ways to generate more money with the least effort required.
You see, the bottom line of this issue is that working hard is not the ultimate key to survival. What matters most is that you have fun, enjoy life, take everything easily, and work out things one by one.
Life is not a race. In order to be successful, you do not have to compete to win. You just have to be happy in everything that you do and you will just see that everything will fall into place as you want it to be.
